New House Country Hotel, Cardiff - this is a an old country house that has been tastefully converted into a hotel. It is situated on a hill overlooking Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan and has brilliant views right across the Bristol Channel to Somerset. It has 5 suites situated in the main building that are well worth paying the extra for. There are another 28 rooms in an adjacent annex joined to the main building that has been tastefully blended into the rest of the hotel. If you are looking for a hotel convenient to Cardiff with good views and lots of style and character then this is it.

Bear Hotel, Cowbridge - this is a 12th Century coaching Inn situated right in the centre of Cowbridge. It is ideally situated for travelling throughout South Wales with easy access to the Heritage Coastline to the south. Cowbridge is an ancient market town situated right in the centre of the Vale of Glamorgan. The Bear Hotel has 34 bedrooms. There are a number of rooms in the old part of the hotel with a number in a modern annex at the rear. If you wish to stay in the older part then make sure that you ask when you book. The bars can be a little lively at the weekends so if you want peaceful evenings then ask for the annex.

The Oasthouse - this is a B&B in Llantwit Major behind the White Lion pub. Thoroughly recommended after a recent stay.

Moorshead Farm Cottages - I can also thoroughly recommend these cottages (www.moorsheadfarm.com), right in the centre of the rural Vale of Glamorgan. Very peaceful, yet only a few minutes away from the coast.
